The Garden Project was founded in 1998 to provide therapeutic gardening experiences for at-risk youth in Durango, CO. Since then it has helped develop 22 school and community gardens in La Plata County and has expanded their reach to work with people of all ages and experiences - believing that everyone, regardless of income, background or ability should have access to growing their own food and healthy nutrition. TGP's mission is to grow a healthier community through garden programs, education, and access to local produce.

I have volunteered and served on the Board of Directors 2018-2020, and took the role of Vice President of the Board in 2019. My service included a specific focus on the Marketing, Event Planning, Sponsorship, Finance and Executive Committees during my term. My work has played a large role in the planning and execution of the annual One Garden at a Time Fundraiser Dinner in addition to raising over $6,000 in local business sponsorship with a large focus on overall budgeting and creative earned income strategies. In 2020 TGP merged with it’s long-time partner, Manna Soup Kitchen, combining two powerful and impactful organizations into one force working towards healthier communities.
